Giving Thanks & A Giveaway!!!!

           THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!

The events last week and the subsequent damage caused in my neck of the woods has put me in an even more thankful mood than I usually am in.  All that happened was a poignant reminder for me — basically “in all things, give thanks.”

That said, as I give thanks for all my blessings, I am sincerely thankful for the role and impact the crafting community has had and continues to have in my life.  In a small show of appreciation, I thought it was time for me to host a little giveaway.  😀

Back story to the prizes starts with my insatiable love for reading, and for bargain book hunting.  In the midst of all the bargain hunting and swapping with my reader crafty friends, I ended up with two copies of each of the prizes!  Rather than list them on Ebay or some such place like that, I’ve decided to offer them to you!  One set of prizes for the crochet crafters and one for the knitting crafters.  The yarn is an added bonus.  Both skeins from my ridiculously large stash!  😀

Awrighty then,  let’s get to it!  😀

The Crochet Prize!  Winner Takes All!

The Knitting Prize!  Winner Takes All!

I know sometimes to enter these giveaways, a person has to jump through all kinds of hoops.  For this one, no hoops allowed!   Everyone who enters has 1 chance to wineven those without FB or Twitter can enter too!  😛    If you’re on WP and wish to reblog, or you want to tweet about the giveaway, that’s fine but not necessary.  The more entrants the merrier is what I say but doing so wouldn’t give you any additional chances.  😉

All you have to do is leave a comment (with email or Ravelry ID so I can contact you) on this post, naming one thing you’re thankful for and what prize interests you.  For the bi-lingual crafters (those who crochet and knit), if you don’t choose, I guess I’ll have to 😛   The other official rules are below:

Giveaway Rules:

  • These prizes are being funded by yours truly.  That’ll be me!!! 😀   Although I’ve added links so posters can see product reviews, I’m not endorsing purchases from Amazon.com or Knit Simple Magazine as an affiliate or associate.  No purchase is necessary from those sites to enter.
  • Participation is by choice.  Participants must be 18 years or older to enter.
  • I was going to make the giveaway available to only US & Canadian participants, but ….. naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!  This giveaway is open to anyone worldwide. 😀
  • The giveaway starts on November 4th 2012 as soon as this post goes live and will end Thanksgiving Day — Thursday 22nd November 2012, 11:59 pm EST.
  • Winners will be selected by random drawing and announced before 11:59 pm EST on Black Friday — Friday 23rd November 2012
  • If the winners do not contact me with their mailing addresses  by November 27th 2012, I’ll do another random drawing and pick new winners.

Good luck everyone!!!  😀

Hey there, missy…it’s AGeeksYarn from Ravelry. 🙂

I am thankful for my friends. They are always there for me, no matter what’s going on, and I would be lost without them!

I’m also thankful for yarn, for obvious reasons. 😉

The knitting package would be my choice, if I luck out and win.

I am most thankful that I have the strength to get up in the morning and make it through the day. With so many negative things going on in the world and at time even in my life, I am so glad to be able to wake up in the morning and pray. Thanking God that I have made it through another day and am able to send off my husband to work and my kids to school. I may not have much, but I am thankful for everything that has been given to me thus far in life.

Since I can both crochet and knit either prize would be awesome to me (I’m not picky at all). But if I had to pick I guess I’d go with the knitting prize (but the crochet would be a nice prize also).. aww heck, if I win you can pick LOL!!

I am thankful for blogging. As an expat it has been great connecting with others who understand the ups and downs of expat life. A friend I met through my blog actually taught me how to crochet a few weeks ago. I was first a knitter but I think that crochet wins out for me. If I were to win I’d love to take home that prize.

I’m very thankful for supportive family. My mother in law was just here for a visit, and she is always so willing to help out in any number of ways, whether it’s playing with my very energetic four year-old son, or helping clean up dishes. She is such a huge blessing in my life!
I would pick the knitting prize- thanks! 🙂

I’m thankful for the crafting skills I’ve gathered over the years. Rips and tears can be mended. Gifts are (hopefully) more meaningful. There’s a real feeling of worth in being able to make something. And even when finances are at lowest tide the kids can have new mittens.

While I mainly knit these days (Vogue encycopedia! Want!!), I can crochet, as well. If I got the crochet set I’d probably share with my mom, who lost her entire stash and library in a fire, last year.

After being ill & disabled for most of my life, I’m very thankful to have reached the age of 50 and still be able to knit and crochet, even though I have to spend most of my time on bed rest, and also do some other crafts when I can be up….but I rarely make things for myself. I like to be able to do things for others and I like being able to put a smile on the faces of others. I’m very thankful that I am still able to do so, albeit more slowly these days! LOL!

I have been handknitting most of my life, but crochet is a relatively newly acquired skill, and I absolutely love it, actualy preferring to crochet these days, so I would love to apply for the crochet package giveaway,, please.

Thanks so much for making these offers – they’re very much appreciated! And as someone who has had to survive on a very low income most of my life, I’m very thankful for the kindness and generosity of people like you who would choose to gift duplicate items rather than sell them for personal profit!

I’m thankful for my home. We lost power for a couple of days, and had to stay with a friend. Although the hospitality was top notch and she had amenities that we do not, we were all happy to get back home. Our home is modest, but that’s where my yarn is! 😉

This year I’m most thankful for the support from my family and friends as I packed up my life in the states to start a new one in the UK with my husband. I’m not sure it would have been half as simple as it turned out to be.

I would pick the knitting prize.

I am thankful for the daily gifts from nature on my morning walk in the desert–a roadrunner, a bunny, a six foot long skin shed from a snake, an owl feather, tiny lizard tracks in the sand. Always something to make me glad to start the day. I’m a knitter

Hmm.. in my small universe I am thankful to be making progress in my home repairs and feeling like I can reclaim a part of my home again. On a more global scale I am very thankful to have heard from my friends in the path of Sandy and know they are alive and well, and slowly getting power back in those areas affected. I hope that all will have power very shortly.
